Platinum Trillion Cut Tanzanite and Diamond Halo Pendant

This gorgeous pendant, made in 950 platinum, is claw set with a 10mm by 10mm trillion cut, bright vivid purple tanzanite with eighteen 2.3mm round brilliant cut diamonds claw set into a halo around the tanzanite and four 2.3mm round brilliant cut diamonds claw set into the bail. This pendant comes an 18 inch spiga chain.

Care and Cleaning
Tanzanite is a relative newcomer to the coloured gemstone world, it was first discovered in 1962 on the surface and in the rivers of Tanzania. About five years later a prospector found a large deposit in the remote region of Merelani in Northern Tanzania and this area remains to this day the only known source of gem quality tanzanite. 
 
Tanzanite is a fairly delicate gem, with a hardness rating of 6 to 7. This means it may scratch fairly easily and may chip or fracture under impacts due to its toughness rating. For these reasons tanzanite jewellery should not be worn everyday and care should always be taken when wearing, putting on or removing your jewellery.  
 
To prolong the life of the stones we would always recommend putting on your tanzanite jewellery after any make-up, hair products or perfumes are applied. 
 
Tanzanite is sensitive to sudden changes in heat. Sudden rises in temperature can cause fractures in the gem so for this reason tanzanite should not be steam or ultrasonic cleaned. You can clean your tanzanite jewellery from home using gem or jewellery cleaning cloths or dips which can be purchased from us or by using warm soapy water and a soft brush. 
Tanzanite is almost always heat treated to improve its colour but this is a stable (permanent) treatment that cannot be reversed under normal wear.
