Gemstone Treatments

An introduction into the world of gemstone treatments and enhancement

Learn more about the most common gemstone treatments, what these treatments do and which gemstones they are most commonly used on.

Treatments such as irradiation and heat treatments are what we class as 'stable treatments' meaning they cannot be reversed during normal everyday wear or repair.

'Unstable treatments' such as fracture filling or oiling may be damaged or removed during everyday wear or repair work so it is so important that consumers understand these treatments and more importantly that retailers disclose them.
